Magical ballot-Caste factor may overrule development mission

Our PM is striving hard to enthuse the voters of Bihar by his garrulousness and ultimately energizing let them know what is his vision to take Bihar on a prosperous path of development.  Days before this state goes to polls, he is making the development at the centre point of his election campaign. By presenting a vision of welfare and employment opportunity, Modi seems to subjugate his opponents who will be dividing the voters on the basis of caste factor. The grand alliance, which is formed of Nitish and Lalu and some other smaller parties counter the development slogan of the NDA government and are depending both on the development works already done by JD (U) government and also on the basis of caste factor. Nitish is basically upbeat to score on this point of caste factor based on Lalu’s influence on  Yadav community. Of course, this grand alliance will not  get the support of slippery politician Mulayam and his followers because he is not included in this alliance. The announcement of many programs, namely Deen Dayal Upadhayay Gram Jyoti Yojna, a gas pipeline project, skill developmental centers and package of 1.25 lakhs crore are not giving Nitish a comfortable posture as he is continuing to announce a seven-point plan to augment the growth of Bihar by investing 2.70 lakhs crore in the coming five years of time. He is trying to woo the voters with all these charismatic plans and programs.

Nitish wants to play his shots with a full vigor  by announcing various investment plans to strengthen his position in the ballot game. Modi is also taking the route of caste by enthusing the Dalit voters that how the son of a Dalit, their former chief minister Manjhi was humiliated in the hand of Nitish. So, apart from development work, he too is campaigning taking caste factor into consideration. The BJP has made coalition with like minded persons like Manjhi, LJP’s Ramvilas Pawan and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party leader Upendra Kushwaha and are very sure to win this election. Modi’s own OBC credentials are understated, but are a surround sound to his development pitch. Modi’s tactical ploy to take these people in his side only to garner the support of backward and Dalits, which constitute 33% of the total voters. It is to be seen how they react in the provocative speeches of various announcements and promises of big politicians and vote catchers, namely Paswan, Kushwaha and Manjhi. Mulayam’s Samajwadi party has made a political seat arrangement with NCP and firing salvos to Nitish and Lalu debunking their roof top screaming that they are the more secular forces prevailing in India as of today. He further criticized Nitish’s JD (U) government that he has reigned a local government for the past twelve years in the company of the BJP. As per him, Nitish’s claim of secular is a most falsifying statement.

Any election is a full of topsy-turvy and one cannot overrule any  miracles to happen for any side.  But the alliance of SP, NCP, and three left parties will definitely snatch the sure shot voters of the secular alliance of Nitish and Lalu.  If a few thousand votes here and there are getting gnawed by this alliance of SP, NCP and others, then Nitish and Lalu’s mahagatbandhan will be confined in a dark mire. Now, Modi has to take the advantage of this feud between these mahagatbandhan and the alliance of SP and NCP.  If he can convince the voters about his various welfare activities already performed in the past fifteen months and  assure that his government will do many more things to take Bihar as one of the  most prosperous states in India, then, there is no reason for BJP gets defeated in this election. Modi may add another feather in his cap shortly.
